Navjot & Pav Wedding

I always love the diverse mix of weddings I get to cover.  So I was elated when Navjot and Pav asked me to be their Sikh Wedding Photographer.

We met in London at Lily & Robins wedding way back in 2015.  It’s always fascinating to me to see how different cultures celebrate their wedding rituals and yet at the heart of it all is essentially the same thing: Two people who love each other enough to be willing to commit their lives to each other, surrounded by everyone they know and love.  Nav & Pav’s wedding was actually in Scotland so it was fantastic to fly up there and be part of the day.  From the getting ready in the morning to the Gurdwara in the afternoon, followed by the amazing reception at the Hilton Glasgow in the eve the whole day was full of energy and laughter.

We also managed to stop off at Glasgow University where  Nav studied to grab some quick portraits along the way.  A change of clothes later it was on to the eve movie themed reception.  We are kindred spirits in that one of our favourite films of all time is Back to the Future!!!! Needless to say as the food, wine and dance flowed everyone had an EPIC time.  It was then at the end of the eve off to Nav’s parental home for the customary “giving away of the bride” ceremony.  That bit is always emotional as it’s symbolic that the parent’s little girl is now leaving to start her own life and family.

All in all, it was such a pleasure and honour to document this day and Nav & Pav were so adamant I should capture the day in my style, I can’t thank them enough.

Congratulations you guys ROCK!!! Now here are some highlights from the day….

There’s a big difference between falling in love with someone and falling in love with someone and getting married. Usually, after you get married, you fall in love with the person even more.

There is such an emotional connection between the bride and her wedding dress, whereas in ready-to-wear you may just be focusing on color or prints for that particular season.
