We have been a documentary wedding photographer and videographer for many years and have been fortunate enough to pick up some pretty amazing award-winning images in the process of travelling across the UK and beyond.
One thing we have noticed during our career of over 300 weddings is the types of words or terms used to describe wedding photography all with their own interpretations, however, a documentary wedding photographer is probably the most used.
Couples can sometimes confuse what this phrase means, it can sometimes conjure thoughts of a paparazzi-style wedding photographer to someone who only shoots in black and white. We are going to dispel all this and give you a clear view of what we believe it being a documentary wedding photographer is all about.
To us, documentary wedding photography captures moments in an unobtrusive approach without the need for direction. It doesn’t mean we won’t get involved, talk to your friends and family or interact with them – fair from it but 99% of the time we call ourselves documentary wedding photographers.
Our main goal is for the couple and guests to have the best day ever! We want everyone at the wedding to consider us as guests and not view us as ‘the official wedding photographer’, that way they will be much more relaxed around us and not feel they need to play up to the camera or get nervous or apprehensive.
A common question we get asked is ‘how do you know the couple?’ or ‘have you been here all day?’, we get asked these questions because we look and act just like wedding guests, we don’t hide in trees and we don’t have a super long lens that ‘snipe’ headshots from miles away and we use the silent cameras from Sony.

We understand every couple is different, and so are their photography needs. That’s why we take a personal approach to know who you are and what you consider important. That way, you can have some peace of mind and enjoy your wedding knowing that every moment is captured perfectly.
We take a maximum of 25 weddings a year. This allows us time to focus on you! We pride ourselves on understanding who you are, what’s important to you, the people closest to you and of course, your wedding. This means we can capture your wedding in the way that is personal to you.
No matter where your wedding venue is, we’ll be there, whether it’s a beach or a mountain. Each weekend we travel up and down the UK to capture weddings. We’re also lucky enough to be part of many destination weddings a year all over the world. Therefore we have lots of experience of arriving at venue or location for the first time without needing to see it beforehand for a recce.
With over 300 weddings captured (and counting) across the world, we have the experience and expertise to help make your wedding a success. We can help you plan your wedding as we know many great suppliers in the industry and know what works well and not so well. You can trust us with your big day.
