The Waldorf Hotel wedding photographer – Priyanka and Akhil’s
As busy wedding photographers we naturally have our favourite London wedding venues, so we were delighted to capture wedding photography at The Waldorf Hotel for Priyanka and Akhil.
Priyanka and Akhil met and fell in love in London so it was the perfect location for their colourful Hindu wedding that welcomed guests from all over the world.
The iconic Waldorf Hotel, which was built in the 1800s, seamlessly blends Edwardian grandeur with modern comfort and is located in the middle of London’s glitzy theatre district. Priyanka and Akhil adored The Waldorf’s Palm court the second they saw it. Its glamour and grandeur of the twenties jazz era combined with its exquisite light perfectly suited their vision for their wedding.
The Mandap was erected in the Palm Court for the traditional ceremony and the aisle was decorated with beautiful floral displays created by the very clever people at niche flowers in Leicester.
Priyanka looked amazing in her Sabyasachi-inspired wedding outfit with a dupatta over her head. It cleverly managed to be traditional with a modern twist by coming away from traditional red and heavier fabrics. She had held her Mehndi party on the day before so was also beautifully decorated in henna. Akhil wore a simple Sherwani in mint green with some beaded and floral work.
There was a wonderfully colourful and joyous Jaan which saw Akhil lead a procession of his family to Priyanka’s family. A ritual where the groom seeks the blessing of the bride’s family.
At the Mehndi, guests enjoyed a standing drinks reception and enjoyed dance performances from both sides of the family.
Priyanka and Akhil made the very wise decision to go ‘unplugged’ at their wedding, not allowing their 200 guests to use their phones. This allowed everybody to be in the moment and created a far more sociable and engaging vibe.
Now we love the little touches at weddings as they tell us something of our client’s personalities. At Priyanka and Akhil’s wedding, it was the photo cart honouring loved ones lost. It’s always lovely when couples find a way to include family members who have passed on in this way. Making them part of the wedding.
We loved capturing Priyanka and Akhil’s wedding at The Waldorf Hotel. We’ll leave the last words to them.
“You guys were amazing! You’ve captured some beautiful moments with our nearest and dearest- it really feels like you’ve captured the true essence of our wedding, which was everyone just having a great time with each other! Thank you, Mick and Ash!”
