As a photo and film studio, we capture many weddings abroad but returning to Italy to capture weddings never gets tiring. If there is one region within Italy that screams wedding more than any other it’s Lake Como.
Wedding photography in Lake Como is a photographers dream, with clear crisp light, stunning backdrop and venues that know how to hold a wedding.
Guests always have an amazing time in Lake Como as you feel like a million dollars walking through the towns stopping off at the local cafe for a glass of fizz and not to mention the food is something else!

BELLAGIO
Described as the pearl of Lake Como is one of the most romantic and exclusive locations in Italy for weddings, the ancient town of Bellagio is picturesque. With quaint cobbled streets, bustling piazzas and beautiful historic villas and gardens. It’s clear that Bellagio is undoubtedly Lake Como’s most beautiful town.
From bright, bursting, flowering balconies to stunning views of the wharf and enchanting backdrops, its clear to see why many describe this town as the most beautiful in Europe. It’s best to explore Bellagio on foot, where you can take in all that Bellagio has to offer at the pace it deserves.
Bellagio offers world-class wedding venues like Villa Aura del Lago, Villa Serbelloni, Villa Balbiano and finally the one everyone drools over Villa del Balbianello. If you are having a civil wedding in Bellagio, they take place in the Town Hall down near the lake which is obviously a very elegant and opulent 18th-century villa with gardens and open areas that are in keeping with the beauty of this magnificent lakeside town.

VARENNA
This charming fishing village sits on Lake Como’s eastern shores and dates back to Roman times. The view across the lake from Varenna has remained unchanged and unspoilt for centuries giving it a serene and magical feel.
Walking is the best way to take in this ancient town walking down the old cobbled lanes and through the charming alleys. Its charming harbour with pastel coloured boats is a must-see. If there is a must-do activity, its enjoy a cappuccino, glass of Prosecco and order a large gelato in the beautiful harbour.
Varenna is home to the ancient castle of Vezio which is a favourite for wedding couples as the setting is absolutely magical. Varenna’s spectacular villas with breathtaking views will dazzle and delight anyone and will be a perfect backdrop for a wedding.
One of the big advantages of the Villas in Varenna is that many are available for civil ceremonies meaning you won’t need to travel outside of the wedding venue. Two wedding venues that stand out within Verenna are Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi, both are in our top 10 wedding venues in Italy.
When we photography Lake Como weddings in Varenna we love getting those to die for romantic portrait images by the shores of the lake with the beautiful green mountains dotted with villas in the backdrop.
LECCO
This provincial capital city boasts grand 19th-century art nouveau architecture and spectacular lake scenery facing south towards the Alps. Sitting at the foot of Mount Grigna and Mount Resegone, it is a breathtakingly beautiful, awesome and dramatic setting for a wedding.
When it comes to wedding venues in Lecco there is a host of impressive period properties, historic castles, magical gardens and charming villas all with a distinctive rustic charm and welcome that comes with this region of Lake Como. Our personal favourite is Villa Giulia, surrounded by a park with a resultant and a panoramic view like no other on the lake.
When we shoot Lake Como wedding photography in Lecco. We love getting images of the mountains and lakes sitting under those dramatic skies. Playing with all available light to create beautifully atmospheric and impossibly romantic images of our couples in this enchanting landscape.
NESSO
Described as a paradise for those seeking calm, Nesso is a picturesque village that sits on the banks of Lake Como. It has a distinctive look achieved by it being literally split in half by its famous gorge that has created a pretty waterfall known as the Nesso Ravine. Although small in size it has a very rich history with traditional rainbow colour houses, pretty churches and cobbled streets.
When we shoot Lake Como wedding photography at Nesso we always love getting our couples onto a boat so we can get as close as possible to the gorge to get some truly unique and romantic images.
Creating art that will last forever
The City of Como overlooks the southwest end of the lake and is surrounded by beautiful green ridge hills that give it unparalleled natural scenery. Add to that a gorgeous town centre framed by a medieval wall with Piazza’s, squares, Como Cathedral and their famous outdoor markets.
It’s the perfect location for a wedding as it still enjoys a lakeside location but has all the benefits of a bustling market town as well. Ideal for guests building a holiday around your Lake Como wedding. It is well renounced as having world-class botanical gardens and stunning open spaces. Many are available for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Villa Carlotta’s gardens are one of the main charms of the lake, attracting visitors from all over the world. Its large, panoramic terrace is the setting for civil or symbolic lake Como wedding ceremonies.
Afterwards, a Prosecco aperitif or full dinner is possible. The variety of flowers and plants is among the finest in Italy and when the hydrangeas and camellias are in bloom the views will simply transport you. What a backdrop for your Lake Como wedding photos!
If you love a formal black tie wedding, Villa Erba is the prefect Lake Como wedding venue for you. By far the most exclusive and lavish wedding venue within Lake Como with its ornate interiors and beautifully decorated and colourful gardens. The villa boasts the largest indoor spaces of all the wedding venues on the lake. If you have your heart set on an outdoor wedding, Villa Erba is the one for you. It has an extensive outdoor park which can be turned into a private outdoor space to host any VIP wedding.
When we shoot Como wedding photography, we always love the way we can capture both the enchanting lake and the mediaeval town centre as backdrops in our images.
Down the road from Villa Erba, is the jaw-dropping Villa Pizzo. To give you some indication of what we mean, John Legend celebrated his Lake Como wedding at Villa Pizzo…. Yeh! Its that good! A superb wedding venue with the longest lakefront of any property on the lake. Ceremonies can take place on their extraordinary lakeside terrace to bring a bit more pizzazz to your already very glamourous wedding. Your guests might feel as if they are floating on the water – because they are!! The romantic Italian gardens and outdoor staircase is an excellent setting for an outdoor Villa Pizzo wedding reception.
The region of Como has so many amazing venues and we could go on all day listing venues but we cannot go without mentioning Villa Regina Teodolinda. For us, this is the wedding that started our love affair with Italy and specifically Lake Como. The wedding of Xana and Robbie was our first destination wedding ‘way back when’ and the wedding where our relationship with wedding planners extraordinaire Wiskow and White. Villa Regina Teodolinda is on the smaller side but packs a punch in terms of character and good vibes. The staff know how to make a wedding rock with great food awesome styling and a champaign spray like no other (if you have seen the photo you will know what we mean)! To top it off Teodolinda has some of the best views of the lake – period.

PUGLIA
Puglia in the south of Italy is increasingly thought to be one of the most beautiful areas in Europe to get married in. Masseria Grieco certinaly ticks a lot of boxes for a great wedding. The arches, terraces and the gardens combined with modern luxuries like the infinity pool and the spectacular views across the Apulian countryside made Fran and Pete book this place the within a heart beat.
LAKE COMO
We get to travel all over the world but we keep returning to Lake Como. Villa Regina Teodolinda is a very special venue as it sits on the edge of Lake Como. Probably one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and provides for a backdrop like no other. This was the setting for Xana and Robbie’s beautiful Italian wedding. A venue they confessed to falling in love with the second they saw it.
PUGLIA
If there is something we love about Italian wedding venues is when they are self contained meaning there is no reason to leave the venue. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the Vinilia Wine Resort is exactly that – this venue has everything including a Wine one of the oldest Wine Cellars in the country. Victoria and Jeremy booked this place on their first visit and being been at their wedding, its clear why!
…Worth every penny. Our guests loved them, they fitted in so well on the day but did not interrupt the flow of the wedding of direct attention elsewhere. Clearly extremely talented and so passionate about what they do….
