Pre-Wedding shootYou are probably reading this because your London Pre Wedding Shoot is in a few weeks (or days) and we have just firmed up the location. You are also probably thinking…. SHIT! I have no idea what this is all about… What is a pre-wedding shoot? What should I wear? I really don’t want to do it! My partner hates having their picture taken!

Firstly, don’t worry! All those thoughts are pretty common and very consistent with what we hear from most couples. This post is meant to give you a few questions to the main questions I get about the pre-wedding shoot.

The main purpose of the pre-wedding shoot is for us to show you how quick and easy it is to get great images of you, even if you feel really uncomfortable. On your wedding day, we want you to be focused on having an amazing time and not be worried about what the images will look like. We want you 100% focused on enjoying every single second without thinking about a camera or us!

Aside from taking a few photos of the two of you, the session helps us really get to know each other. Both you, us, and the camera.

It’s the perfect way for us to learn a lot about your personalities; it’s amazing how much we learn about how couples interact with each other just hanging out for a few hours taking photos.

What to wear for a London Pre Wedding shoot?

Primary and secondary colours play a huge part in my photography. A touch of red, yellow, or blue can make any ensemble pop and help you stand out from the background. Even adding a pair of red or yellow shoes, tights, or a bright blue tie will transform your outfits.

Take this as your excuse to buy that special something you’ve been eyeing and to break out the shoes you look amazing in and just had to buy.

Try including some accessories – a simple necklace, floppy rimmed hat, bright socks, a pop-of-colour belt, a scarf, a set of bracelets, or add some layers that make your look just a little more stylish.

Complimenting accessories are important as they’re a perfect way to bring your outfits together. Think about colours that go well together, but please try to avoid matching. Dress as though you are attending the same event; it does look odd if one of you is dressed for a first date and the other looks like they are going to the beach.

During the session, plan on only carrying the bare minimum – if you can leave purses, bags,  phones, etc at home or in the car or we can carry them for you.

Its all about you – enjoy it!

Remember – confidence is everything in photographs. What you choose to wear should be something you feel comfortable in, something that compliments your physical features, your individuality, something you can move in, and something that makes you feel AMAZING!

I often recommend scheduling make-up or hair trials on the same day as the shoot – being dolled up makes you feel a little more ready to be photographed that goes for the girls too 🙂 !

It’s doing that little bit extra that will make you feel confident, and never forget confidence is king.

Lastly, rules were meant to be broken. I truly trust your personal style and I know I’ll love what you choose.

If you have any questions as you’re planning for your session, please don’t hesitate to ask and I look forward to photographing you soon!

This was written to give a few tips to help plan for our styled shoot, but it’s in no way a rule book. It’s just a few pointers to help guide you in the right direction to make sure you’re ready for us and our cameras.

When it gets right down to it, this is YOUR session. Make it personal, make it about you…
