Northbrook Park – Laura & Rishi

I first met Laura and Rishi when I captured their pre-wedding shoot near Holland Park in London, so seeing them again was like catching up with old friends for their wedding at Northbrook Park

I love fusion weddings especially when they incorporate traditions and customs from both sides of their cultures.  Laura and Rishi opted for two ceremonies, a Hindu wedding and a western ceremony.  First was the Hindu ceremony that started outside with the Jaan that saw Rishi arrive in a vintage Rolls Royce to great fanfare, there were drummers, and smoke flares as the men danced their way up the driveway to be greeted by Laura’s family.  It was loud and colourful and perfectly suited my style of documentary wedding photography.

The wedding ceremony took place in one of Northbrook Park’s beautiful suites where a gorgeous Mandap had been erected.  Laura looked absolutely stunning in a green lehenga from Mongas which she wore with traditional jewellery.  Her hair had been styled by Shrena Kara, who with make-up artists Nicola Redman and Olivia Mills, completed Laura’s stunning look.

Rishi looked very handsome in an intricately embroidered white Sherwani from Kisha Kerai.

The ceremony included a fire pit to which puffed rice was added by allowing it to trickle through Laura and Rishi’s fingers.  This ritual signified the bonding of the two families.  At the end of the ceremony the Hindu priest said a prayer for Laura’s mum which was really lovely.

After the Hindu ceremony, I took my chance to whisk the pair of them outside into Northbrook Park’s magnificent gardens for a mini photo shoot.  I was thrilled with the images I got.  Here, take a look!

The second western style ceremony was held in the afternoon.  Laura looked amazing in a Stella York dress that she bought at Aurora Bride bridal boutique in Sutton.  It had a satin bodice with spaghetti straps and a plunge v-neckline with a beautiful layered floaty skirt.

Rishi looked very smart in a traditional black tie from Cavani.  In fact, the entire grooms’ party opted for black tie which really worked well with the elegant glamour of Laura’s dress and Northbrook Park.  Everybody was so photogenic.

Laura and Rishi embraced the time of day and year by opting for soft autumn colours, an open fire, and violinist Rachel Somerset.  It was perfectly elegant and cosy at the same time.

The flowers at the wedding were exquisite and the clever creation of Liz from Blue Sky Flowers.  The warm autumnal arrangements in Laura’s bouquet and on the tables looked simply amazing.  The image of everybody sitting at the top table looks like something straight out of a bridal shoot.  Here, take a look!

Both Laura and Rishi are huge fans of Indian Food, so opted to have a traditional Gujarati lunch, Indo-Chinese canapes, and a full Indian dinner all provided by specialist caterers Ragasaan who not only provided utterly delicious food but used their expertise to help plan and coordinate the day as well.

Laura and Rishi were clear from the off that they didn’t want a wedding cake so opted for the most impressive doughnut tower from Crosstown.

The speeches were very well received and included a short speech by Laura who was keen to shine some light on Rishi.

Evening celebrations were not being left to chance as Laura and Rishi had booked DJ Mr Vish from Musical Movement.  A school friend of Rishi’s, he knew precisely how to get the party started and keep it going all night.

A wonderfully personal fusion wedding for Laura and Rishi at a stunning Hampshire wedding venue.  I loved capturing every second of it.

I’ll leave the last words to Laura and Rishi.  Here are their thoughts on us!

“Ash became a friend from the moment we spoke to him on the phone. He talked us through his experience and what works best to capture the most perfect wedding photos. Our relationship with him built quickly and he is more to us then just a wedding supplier. Our guests felt at complete ease with him from the get go, as did we. For that, we would whole heartedly recommend Miki Studios to capture your upcoming day.

We are in awe of our photographers. Ash was kind enough to edit and post half a dozen the day after the wedding and it’s great to have a few to reflect on. We are so pleased with them and they really show the love and ambience of our day. You can see the emotion of happiness and love through the photos”.
