Firle Place – Alice & Amar

Like so many couples looking to get married in the last three years, Alice and Amar’s wedding faced some setbacks so it was fantastic to finally get to capture their gorgeous fusion wedding at Firle Place in Sussex.  Alice and Amar chose the perfect venue for their summer wedding.

Firle Place holds special memories for Alice, as she rode her horse there as a child.  So, it was a good fit.  This country house in Sussex was built in Tudor times but enjoyed some remodelling during the Georgian Period.  Its interiors are brimming with beautiful art, fine furniture and porcelain of national significance, whilst outside its majestic gardens make the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding.

Firle House is a DIY venue, so gave Alice and Amar the flexibility to have their wedding done their way.  And true to their unique selves, celebrations started the night before with a pre-wedding party that included many Indian rituals such as Henna, Haldi and dancing.  And some less traditional rituals like a roaming magician and a taco station.

Alice and Amar live in Germany and got married in the UK with guests coming from all over the world so it was great that the celebrations could be spread over three days, which is traditional in Hindu weddings.

The following day we got there early and caught up with Alice, who looked amazing in a lehenga that she bought from Mytrosseau.  The blouse was beautifully embellished and it coordinated perfectly with the simpler skirt.

Amar, following Hindu tradition, arrived as part of a procession on horseback (Alice’s horse) along with some fantastic Dohl drummers hired from drummers’ delight.  Amar looked very handsome in traditional hindu groom attire that he sourced from Manavar.

We always love capturing Hindu weddings as they really suit our storytelling style of documentary wedding photography.

The traditional Hindu ceremony was conducted by a pandit ji, who made the ceremony very personal and fun, stopping to explain the traditions to Alice and Amar’s non-Hindu guests.  He did this in a fun and respectful way making all the guests feel involved in the ceremony.

Firle Place is a great venue for those looking to have their weddings done their way.  They encourage their couples to choose their own suppliers to create their own unique wedding day.  At Alice and Amar’s wedding, we loved the furniture that had been rented from Raj Tent hire, and the flower displays by Anthologie Florists.  And the rustic and sweet Dog and Duck mobile bar were perfect.  We must also mention the catering as well which was provided by the clever team at Abbey Catering Services.

Evening celebrations at Hindu weddings are always a treat and we always bravely get on the dancefloor to get amazing images.  And with the dohl drummers alongside DJ Kelz, Alice and Amar’s guests weren’t disappointed.  These guys were really up for a party!

Storytelling wedding videography at Firle Place

Alice and Amar’s wedding was definitely worth the wait.  A beautiful, colourful and joyous Hindu wedding at a quintessentially English wedding venue.  This was the template for how to do fusion weddings brilliantly.

Congratulations to Alice and Amar.  We had a great time capturing your amazing day.  We’ll leave the last words to them.  Here’s what they had to say about us.

“I remember Alice showing me the Instagram page for you guys back in 2019. There was one teaser video of an Indian wedding which completely blew me away, I didn’t know that people had wedding videos like this. I was sold after that. On the day itself, I have to say Andre and Ash were really chill, they just went about their business super professionally and we were more than happy just to let them get on with it. I always think if you hire people who are good with their craft, just trust them with it and that’s what we did.”

If you are looking for a Firle Place Wedding Photographer, we would love to hear from you.
