The Winding House Weddings Photography and Film – Laura and Ben’s wedding at The Winding House, Kent
We loved shooting Ben and Laura’s amazing wedding at The Winding House in Kent. Over 100 years old The Winding House is a former Victorian coal mining building near Dover. Its rich history combined by the interiors of white walls, high ceilings and ceiling to floor windows is a wonderful contrast from the red brick exterior. So the perfect choice for Laura who is a fan of minimalist design.
Laura and Ben were always clear that they wanted to get married in Kent as it is where Ben’s grandparents used to live and Ben had fond memories of the county. The Winding House only do one wedding per weekend which allowed Laura and Ben to have the wedding their way without feeling compromised or rushed. I know this was really important to them as they wanted the day to feel relaxed and natural and it certainly did.
Laura looked amazing in her dress. It was designed by Laure de Sagazan and Laura found it through The Own Studio who specialises in sleek lines and flattering silhouettes (not a meringue in sight!) Brides that look comfortable are a London wedding photographers dream and Laura looked so sophisticated and elegant in her dress.
Ben took the opportunity to have a bespoke suit made for him. He went for a petrol blue and looked so smart. Honestly, this pair looked like they’d just stepped off the pages of an urban bridal magazine.
We also loved the natural flowers on the day of just greens and whites that perfectly balanced The Winding House’s interiors. So fresh and natural. Here take a look!
The ceremony was beautiful and a highlight was Laura’s mum Kirstien reading out a speech that Laura’s Belgian Opa (grandfather) had intended to read at the wedding. Sadly, he passed away just two months prior to the wedding so the speech was very emotional. It was lovely to see that despite his sad passing Laura and Ben found a way to ensure he was an important part of their wedding day.

Their approach created such a calm, relaxing and enjoyable wedding day for themselves, their family and their friends to remember.
