Castell d’Emporda Wedding Photography and Videography – Ashley and Elliot’s beautiful wedding in Spain
Ashley and Elliot are a well-travelled pair, with their pre-wedding photoshoot and wedding taking us to two different European destinations. Our first meeting with them was at their pre-wedding photoshoot in Vienna. So, seeing them again at their wedding in Spain felt like catching up with friends.
Their wedding took us to Girona in Spain. We have captured lots of destination weddings in Spain, and are always thrilled to return for Castell D’Emporda Wedding Photography. Ashley and Elliot chose to get married at Castell d’Emporda a stunning hotel located in an authentic castle. Positioned on a small hill it’s surrounded by olive fields, and occupies one of the most beautiful areas in Catalonia. It’s a truly stunning location for a wedding and ticked all of Ashley and Elliot’s boxes.
For destination weddings, we like to travel out with the wedding party a few days earlier so that everybody can get used to us. So that by the day of the wedding, everybody is so used to us and they hardly notice us there. And with a fun weekend itinerary planned in advance, there was plenty for us to capture.
Ashley looked amazing in her Martina Lianastrapless silk satin dress with off-the-shoulder straps. Her hair and make-up looked immaculate thanks to Agata Julia. She had a real look of old-fashioned Hollywood glamour. Her two maids of honour and bridesmaids looked elegant in a combination of teal and navy blue dresses.

Elliot and his grooms’ party looked very smart in light beige three-piece suits with pale blue ties. And a friend of his expertly took on the role of Matador of ceremonies. (I don’t think we’re ever going to call the role Master of ceremonies again!) <
The wedding ceremony was held outside in the Olive Grove and officiated by one of Ashley and Elliot’s friends. Their florist Pepe Von Strude<, created a Chuppah based on an image that Ashley and Elliot had sent him and it was perfect.
These guys added lots of personal touches to their ceremony like writing their own vows, and having Elliot’s mum and Ashley’s maid of honour both do a reading. And having Elliot’s dad and Ashley’s sister presenting the rings. Ashley and Elliot were keen to involve their loved ones in their wedding, and giving significant members of the wedding party a role to fulfil really made it all the more special.
And, as if the emotions weren’t running high enough, some guests of Ashley and Elliot gifted them a local string quartet to play in their ceremony which really added to the emotion of the day.

After the ceremony, there was a delightful surprise as eight-piece New Orleans-style brass band Brass Funkeys walked delighted guests in a procession to the drinks and canapes reception which was held overlooking the Pyrenees. They proved to be so popular that there were cries for an encore before dinner!
Talking of food, the food provided by the in-house chefs at Castell d’Emporda was outstanding. And not just on the day of the wedding but for the entire stay. The wedding meal was held under a beautiful pergola with tables dressed exquisitely.
The wedding reception started with Israeli Dancing. We are used to capturing Jewish weddings, so without hesitation, we too hit the dancefloor, to capture some amazing images and footage.
After the first course, there was another round of dancing and so it went on. We noticed fewer and fewer high-heeled shoes worn as the meal went on!

Speeches were delightful with Ashley’s other maid of honour delivering an amazing speech and Elliot’s brother/best man singing a personalised sea shanty as a nod to Ashley’s Cornish roots. As a prank, Ashley got the band to play the succession theme tune as Elliot got up to make his speech. (Which was revenge for him pulling the same prank on her at their town hall legal ceremony before!)
Evening celebrations were held in the Lounge Bar La Cova del Drac, an authentic cave. Guests were led there in a procession by the Brass Funkey’s drummer, where they partied until 4am!

“We chose MIKI Studios because we loved their style that they should blend in with the guests and we won’t really notice they are there. This is definitely how it felt on the day. We had the opportunity to meet Mick & Ash for a pre-wedding photo shoot beforehand which definitely made the wedding day feel like seeing old friends. They made us laugh and feel very comfortable. Lots of our guests commented on how great they were. We hope we can book them again for future life events.
