Woolwich Town Hall Wedding Photography

Ask any London wedding photographer and they’ll tell you that they love shooting wedding photography at Woolwich Town Hall.  This Grade II listed Edwardian Baroque building has served as a Town Hall since 1906.  Ornate and grand, it makes a stunning venue for a Town Hall wedding venue.

If you’re looking for a London wedding venue that has an instant impact on arrival then Woolwich Town Hall is the place for you!  When you walk through the doors and enter the Victorian Hall it’s a real wow moment.  The six domed ceilings (yes count them – six!) illuminates the opulent interiors, there are beautiful stained-glass windows that depict the local history and throw extra light around the space.  The galleried landing is accessed via a sweeping main staircase ideal for photographs.  The floors are original chequerboard marble.  It really is a breathtakingly beautiful building.

There are three wedding rooms to choose from for wedding ceremonies.  The first is the Greenwich Register Office.  The smallest room they hold simple wedding ceremonies with just two witnesses.  The ceremony includes just the basic vows and the exchanging of rings.  Perfect for an elopement wedding or for those romantics who want to get married quickly and without any fuss. They usually don’t allow wedding photographers into the room as well but if capturing your wedding ceremony is important to you, it’s worth asking as they have been known to be flexible about it.

The second of their wedding rooms is the recently refurbished Edwardian Room.  It has a capacity of 36 guests.  It has a feature fireplace and pretty interiors that all make great backdrops in our photographs.  You are allowed to have readings and music of your choice in the Edwardian Room allowing you to create a more bespoke wedding ceremony.

The largest of the wedding rooms is Victoria Hall.  With capacity for up to 130 guests, it’s located in the centre of the building so you get the full effect of those domed ceilings, chequerboard marble floors, ornate plasterwork and the majestic staircase.  A truly Instagram-able backdrop for any wedding ceremony.

When we shoot wedding photography at Woolwich Town Hall we love getting images of our couples at the foot of the grand staircase.  As this is the perfect spot to showcase the very best features of this stunning building.

If you like, you can choose to have your wedding reception at Woolwich Town Hall.  As it’s a government building there’s no in-house catering but this allows you a clean slate to use your own suppliers to build your own unique wedding from scratch.

Or there are a host of excellent wedding venues nearby that you and your wedding party can move onto after your ceremony such as Eltham Palace.  For micro or intimate weddings, you might prefer to host your wedding reception in a local restaurant within walking distance of the Town Hall.  If that’s the case, take a look at Guard House, Dial Arch and Con Gusto.

The team at Woolwich Town Hall are very helpful and experienced and will help you through every process of planning your wedding.  From your initial enquiry right through to the end of your wedding day.  As with all Town Halls, pricing is straight forward so there are no hidden costs.

So, if you’re looking for a quintessential Town Hall venue, we don’t think there are any Town Halls with interiors as photogenic as Woolwich Town Hall.  But don’t just take our word for it.  Go and take a look for yourself.
