Who doesn’t love weddings in Surrey! We do!! We also love a winter wedding and shooting at Northbrook Park in February is perfect as its gorgeous light interiors and evergreen surroundings make it the perfect venue all year round. Who doesn’t love wedding photography at Northbrook Park? Northbrook Park has a Grade II listed eighteenth-century manor house nestled in 120 acres of stunning countryside. Just perfect!
We got there early to catch up with Tess and her bridal party who were an army of nine! They were getting ready in a cottage in Northbrook Park Mews (fabulous eco-cottages that sit within Northwood Park estate and are just a stone’s throw from the manor house!) Everybody was in high spirits and it was a real team effort getting Tess ready with sister in law Emma doing Tess’s hair and bridesmaid Bethan doing her makeup.
Tess looked amazing in the dress that gave her a gorgeous silhouette in all of our shots of her. She was the perfect bride to photograph. Beautiful, fun and smiling all day!
Tess’s lovely parents were also present and I got some gorgeous father and bride shots that were amongst my favourites of the day.
I then shot over to Northbrook Park’s Vine Room to catch up with Tom who was there with his groom’s party (who were all looking very handsome in their petrol blue tails!). Northbrook Park’s vine room is a stunning space for a wedding ceremony, flooded with natural light (we Surrey wedding photographers are obsessed with natural light!) it has crystal chandeliers, delicate vine-leaf engravings and a stunning marble floor. The first glimpse of this majestic room is a real ‘wow moment’. In such a stunning room Tess and Tom kept decoration minimal with natural flower arrangements and candles. It was so elegant.
After the ceremony, there was a drinks reception and despite it being February we were able to throw open the doors and get some outside shots of Tess and Tom’s guests mingling and having fun.
Day-time music was provided by the Sonore string quartet who played a variety of modern mixes in a traditional form.
The reception was held in Northbrook Park’s orangery. I love this room. The exposed brickwork walls, flagstone and hardwood floor and the greenery adorned with fairy lights created such a warm and contemporary atmosphere for Tess, Tom and their guests.
After a fantastic meal and some rapturously received speeches, there was the cutting of the cake. The wedding cake or cakes namely Colin and Connie were epic. Who doesn’t love the classic caterpillar cake and these bride and groom caterpillars were delightful. I love the little quirks at weddings as they tell you something about the bride and grooms personalities and this one still makes me smile when I think about it!
Tess and Tom’s first dance kick-started the evening celebrations and was sung by famous actor and writer Nick Shirm who is a close family friend. It wasn’t long before Tess and Tom were joined on the dancefloor and by the time live band, TMD played there were some serious shapes being cut by many a guest!
For those taking a break from the dancefloor, there was an ice-cream truck and a photo-booth proving that Tess and Tom were taking fun very seriously at their wedding party!
Tess and Tom’s was the perfect wedding for any Surrey wedding photographer to shoot. An elegant romantic wedding full of love, laughter and fun. I’ll leave the last word to them. Here’s what they had to say about working with us.
“The best photos we have ever seen. We can’t believe we are the people in them. They allow us to relive the day over and over again and we can’t wait to do this for the rest of our lives. There is not a single reason why you should look beyond MIKI Studios. No one will capture your moments the way they will. No one will understand your dreams as much as they will. They are invisible in the most complimentary way possible. Most of the photos captured we are still trying to work out they took them without me watching. We love these guys and miss them. We want to organise a huge event again just so we can see him again!”
