We met through Shasa booking me after being a guest at another wedding we shot last year at Winters Barn. We came to me during the evening and said, “I wanna book you for my wedding, you ok with that….?” Luckily enough, we were free and they asked us to capture their wedding through Photography and Film. This is actually how we get a lot of our bookings which is lovely as we get to see familiar faces again. It was doubly nice as Katie and Lee (who’s wedding it was were guests at Sabrina and Shasa’s wedding) so it was great to catch up with them.
As London wedding photographers it’s always great to work with couples before the big day and Sabrina and Shasa said that it certainly made the process a lot more comfortable for them.
The ceremony was held at St John Fisher Catholic Church in Harrow which is the church that Sabrina has been going to most of her life. Sabrina looked beautiful in her Ivory wedding dress which had a classic fit and was embroiled with metallic lace. Sabrina’s and the bridesmaid’s bouquets were provided by Van Arthur Flowers though flowers in the church were done by kind members of the congregation.
After beautiful ceremony guests were whisked to the reception at the Hilton Hotel in Watford on a traditional red double-decker bus (courtesy of Routemaster Ltd) which was lots of fun!
Sabrina and Shasa chose the Hilton Hotel in Watford as they were looking for a venue that would allow them to have a bespoke wedding. Shooting wedding photography at the Hilton Hotel in Watford is great as it has modern clean lines and lots of natural light. The wedding coordinator at the hotel was really helpful in allowing the pair to personalise their wedding. Sabrina said that nothing was too much trouble for them. They chose their favourite colours blue and red as the colour scheme and Sabrina made the centrepieces, staircase garlands, name cards, table plans, guest book, postbox for cards and gifts and favours herself. Sabrina even made her own wedding cake which looked pretty impressive!
On arrival at The Hilton Sabrina and Shasa were greeted by their guests with rapturous applause before everybody enjoyed a drinks reception. This gave us the chance to take some great shots of everybody relaxing and enjoying themselves. After some very well received speeches, which were a highlight of the day for Sabrina, as it was the only part of the day that she had no control over! Wedding food was served by those very clever people at Preeti’s catering. Sabrina and Shasa opted for traditional Indian curry as Sabrina and her family are Indian and Shasa loves eating curry in his home city of Durban, South Africa. Preeti’s service and staff were exceptional and many said it was the best curry they’d ever tasted. They even offered a children’s menu for any little ones who didn’t like spicy food.
Sabrina and Shasa weren’t taking any chances on the evening, they wanted a proper party so hired a DJ and a photo booth and we took some fantastically fun shots of them and their loved ones enjoying themselves on the dancefloor. (Sabrina had thoughtfully provided flip flops for female guests so that could kick off those uncomfortable heels and really go for it!)
It was time for us to take our leave and the image of Sabrina and Shasa embraced on the dancefloor surrounded by their family and friends seemed a fitting image to close the story of their amazing wedding day. Take a look, it’s one of our favourite images of the day.
Congratulations to Sabrina and Shazsa for getting married. We hope our images and film will allow you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
