They really embraced the Cypriot wedding traditions like the groom’s last shave (he is shaved in the presence of his family and friends), like the red scarf tied around the bride’s waist to symbolise fertility and during the ceremony, a Stefani (headband) is placed on the bride and grooms heads to symbolise god\u2019s blessing.Atela looked amazing in her wedding dress, which had a beautiful neckline, silvery shimmers and all-important pockets.The traditional Cypriot ceremony was held in the old church of Agia Marina, in Anagiontas. The church is beautifully designed built with stones and surrounded by a neat wood pergola. It has a small bell tower. Outside it has a large tiled courtyard which was the perfect place for us to take some fantastic images.Destination wedding photography is always a chance to work with the best light. Take a look at the light in this shot of Atela and Alexandros’s confetti moment just after the ceremony.After the ceremony, Atela, Alexandros\u00a0and all of their guests headed for Aelia Wellness Retreat just outside Nicosia for the wedding reception. An eco-resort designed as a wellness haven Aelia was the perfect venue for Adele and Alex\u2019s wedding. The buildings of natural wood and stone set in stunning gardens with views across the beautiful Cyprus hills gave the wedding a dreamlike feel.Atela and Alexandros were very thoughtful when planning their wedding. To help them to cope with the heat guests were each given parasols and there was a lemonade stand. We also loved the upside-down hanging flowers and the olive trees by the dining area giving the feel for Adele and Alexandros guests that they were dining in an olive grove.One of the things we love best about shooting Cyprus wedding photography is the natural elements that are specific to Cyprus. Like the lavender, the olive trees, the cypress trees, the cactuses. Atela and Alexandros’s wedding didn\u2019t need \u2018dressing\u2019 or to be \u2018themed\u2019 because Cyprus provided the most beautiful backdrop anyone could wish for.A breathtakingly beautiful wedding full of elegance and style in a simply stunning setting.
